President & CEO of
Bixby Metro Chamber of Commerce
About the Bixby Chamber of Commerce
The Bixby Chamber of Commerce is the leading voice for the Bixby business community and beyond, with a healthy, committed culture and a genuinely strong staff. Following the tenure of a well-respected and accomplished CEO, the Chamber is entering its next chapter and is seeking a leader who can re-energize member engagement, sharpen the organization’s strategic direction, and build on a strong foundation without dismantling what has already been built.
The Opportunity
The Bixby Chamber of Commerce is seeking a confident, visible President & CEO to serve as the face of the organization — an excellent public speaker and relationship-builder with the organizational discipline to lead a lean staff, grow membership and revenue, and partner with the Board of Directors to set and execute real strategy. The ideal candidate combines a strong public presence with direct, organized leadership and the diplomatic skill to build consensus across a diverse community of stakeholders.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the primary public face and advocate for the Chamber and its member businesses, representing and elevating the local business community.
- Partner with the Board of Directors to develop annual strategic goals, track progress monthly, and benchmark performance against peer chambers.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a small, lean staff — working alongside the team rather than over it, and without relying on heavy administrative support.
- Drive membership growth and retention through active recruiting, sales, and relationship management, reversing recent membership decline.
- Build and manage a budget that correlates with strategic and sales goals, and grow membership, sponsorships, and other revenue to support the Chamber’s mission.
- Plan and deliver high-quality events and programming, securing strong speakers and ensuring members see clear value in their participation.
- Elevate the Chamber’s marketing, communications, and social media presence to raise visibility for the organization and its members.
- Cultivate and personally maintain relationships with the City of Bixby, Bixby Public Schools leadership, key long-time and larger Chamber members and sponsors, individual Board members, opinion leaders, and regional and state partners.
- Be visible and “boots on the ground” - present at events, known personally by members and the community - not delegating relationship-building to staff.
What We're Looking For
- A strong, engaging public speaker and communicator who can command a room and represent the Chamber with polish and warmth.
- A consensus-builder and influencer who empowers volunteers and staff and brings people along rather than dictating direction.
- A direct, organized leader comfortable confronting hard realities and collaborating with a Board that expects clear, hands-on guidance.
- A collaborative team leader, not a micromanager, who is comfortable operating in a lean organization without heavy administrative support.
- Professional and polished, while remaining approachable.
- Chamber experience, ideally in Oklahoma.
- Demonstrated sales, membership development, and revenue-generation experience.
- Strategic planning experience, including goal setting, execution tracking, and peer benchmarking.
- Financial acumen sufficient to build and manage an organizational budget.
- Skilled in marketing, communications, and storytelling, including social media.
How Success Will Be Measured
- Membership growth and retention, reversing recent decline.
- Increased event attendance, with members reporting value for their time and investment.
- Revenue and sponsorship growth that supports stated strategic goals.
- Staff retention, professional growth, and a productive, accountable team.
- Strong relationships with the City, regional partners, and community leaders.
- Formal annual goals, tied to the strategic plan, tracked monthly and benchmarked against comparable chambers.
- Visible trust built within the community during the first year, with clear evidence of care, competence, and forward motion.
Decision-Making Authority
The CEO leads the operations of the organization, and the Board of Directors has authority over budget approval, overall strategic direction, goal setting, CEO accountability, and community- and stakeholder-level strategic decisions.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $90K to $105K with bonus opportunities linked to key metrics including member recruitment and retention and increases in revenue. Benefits include 80% of medical and dental insurance, employee only; 100% of AFLAC’s base plan, employee only; Up to 3% match on IRA; and PTO based on years of service.
