Graduation Ceremony..................May 3, 2023
No more than one session may be missed for the participant to successfully complete the program and receive a graduation plaque.
As a requirement for graduation students may serve as a board intern for a non-profit organization in the Bixby/Tulsa area while enrolled in Leadership Bixby.
Classes will be from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM unless otherwise noted.
Each year students come from a diversity of businesses and meet monthly to learn more about the Bixby community.
Leadership Bixby is a 7-session program, sponsored and coordinated by the Bixby Metro Chamber of Commerce, to identify, educate and develop a select group of citizens for positions of community leadership. Participants meet each month during September, October, November, January, February, March and April.
The program’s principal goal is to build a resource of community leadership on a
planned, continuing basis with four specific objectives:
To identify potential community leaders.
To expand the leadership potential of participants by increasing their knowledge of Bixby and the critical issues that face the community and to introduce participants to present community leaders.
To improve communications between present and future leaders.
To provide a channel for those not presently in leadership roles to gain access to positions of community leadership in an informed and responsible manner.
By completion of the class, students will understand all the components to ensure a successful community: state and city government, social services, education, and how economic developments happen. Over 170 participants have graduated from the program since 2002.
