CJC Architect's 70th Anniversary

70 Years Young! CJC Architects, Inc. Celebrates Seven Decades of Architectural Excellence in Tulsa, Oklahoma

Tulsa, Okla. – CJC Architects, Inc. is celebrating 70 years of continuous operation in Tulsa, Oklahoma, making it one of the oldest, locally-owned architecture firms in the northeast Oklahoma region.

Founded in 1953, CJC Architects, Inc. serves clients in the commercial architecture sector from its offices in downtown Tulsa. CJC offers full architectural services including site analysis, master planning, schematic design, design development, construction documents and construction administration.

Joseph Coleman, FAIA, and Bruce Ervin, AIAfounded the firm as Coleman Ervin and Associates and eventually located their offices at the newly renovated Old City Hall building in downtown Tulsa. Joined by Larry Johnston, AIA, and renamed Coleman, Ervin, Johnston, Inc., the firm worked on several notable projects in its early years, including the renovation of the original Central High School into the AEP-PSO Tulsa office headquarters.

Not limited to buildings, founder Joe Coleman’s passion for preservation extended to the natural heritage of Tulsa. In 1970, he became the first architect to be elected commissioner of streets and public property and is credited with helping to save the Council Oak Tree - historic Burr Oak tree that marks the site where the Creek tribe established Tulsa in 1836 - through a unique and unconventional land exchange between a private owner and the city.

The firm managed by Coleman, Johnston, and Maurice Clyma, AIA, eventually became known as CJC Architects, Inc. in 2006 and has continued to earn a reputation for the design of quality and high performing projects throughout the Tulsa metropolitan area and the state of Oklahoma.

Current President Tim Boeckman introduced 3D BIM Modeling into the firm's practice in 2001, making it an early adopter of the technology. “Our first project to model in 3D was the Tulsa County Courthouse,” said Tim Boeckman, AIA, the firm's
President. “This technology has become an invaluable and integral part of our services, still very much in use today to allow us to quickly update building models for clients to best fit their vision.”

Long term clients of the firm include Oklahoma Baptist University, Tulsa Public Schools, various church congregations in the area, and the Oklahoma Military Department. In recent years, CJC has completed projects with Tulsa County including the Expo Building at the fairgrounds and with private developers, including work on Climb Tulsa and the One Place Building in downtown Tulsa.

Current projects include Iconik Bixby, a $33 million mixed-use development in downtown Bixby; work at various campuses for Battle Creek Church; and the Tedford Insurance development in downtown Jenks.

Today, the firm’s Principals Tim Boeckman, AIA, John Hall, AIA, and Michael Hagan, AIA, continue to lead a team providing thoughtful and dependable service to clients throughout Oklahoma in the manner passed down by the firm's founders.

Through seven decades of unwavering support, CJC has been privileged to contribute to Tulsa's urban transformation and create spaces that inspire, connect, and endure. "Our 70th anniversary marks a notable milestone in CJC's journey, and we are excited to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the Tulsa community and clients who have been integral to our continued success," Boeckman said.

“We appreciate everyone’s support through the years, and we remain steadfast in our vision for the future. We are committed to delivering exceptional value to our clients by embracing emerging technologies and staying at the forefront of innovation, all while continuing to support the Oklahoma community.”
